Cricket- A Religion!

To tell you frankly, I have never liked cricket (don’t hang me for that!). My interest never builds up even in the world cup matches and the irony is that all my family members are as crazy for cricket as most of the Indians. Huhhh!!! Poor me! However, some cool dudes in the ground do interest me.

I always had a notion that cricket is one game which has been overrated in India, which in turn leaves the rest of the sports almost ignored. Well, not that I don’t continue with this notion of mine, it is just that the day our team won the T20 final, something in me changed. Now, the questions are usual-why, what, how etc…etc! Hmmm…to start with my mom usually gets panicked when she sees India on the verge of loosing a game. I was doing my work when I heard my mom in a state of panic and I knew, India was either helpless or on fifty-fifty chances. I guess, it was the last over where one wicket was needed like hell. So, I just took my mom out into the verandah to make her relax a bit. Trying to calm her down, I was uttering all nonsense but there am I, a nice daughter. J

What was significant that day was not the win but the moment India won, I heard all the neighborhood clapping and shouting in excitement expressing their joy. My mother too jumped in excitement and all I could think was-come on, it was just another match. Nonetheless, for the next fifteen minutes the night echoed with sounds of claps, excitement, crackers, shrieks, wooo’s and music from each and every building (even my own).

I won’t say that I have started liking the game after that but yeah; I now know that cricket is one such game that has the power to bind millions and even break hearts at times. I don’t wanna be cynical and selfish, so BEST OF LUCK-TEAM INDIA!
